Teresa's Villa (#531)
Charming Umbrian Villa newly restored and tastefully redecorated in warm earthy tones. Breathtaking 360 degree panorama!
Many properties in Tuscany and Umbria enjoy picturesque country vistas but the view from Teresa’s has to be among the most breathtaking of all. The views from the Villa and the pool are already spectacular, climb a few paces and the panorama is 360 degree and encompasses the historical town of Todi in addition to the olive groves and perfectly groomed Umbrian fields. It feels like you are on top of the world with the bonus that the Villa has just 450m of white road, is just 15 mins from Todi and 20 mins from famous Orvieto so is by no means isolated.
The careful restoration which ensured that original features were retained was completed in 2008. The Villa has been divided into apartments but offers maximum flexibility with an interconnecting door between the 2 apartments on the upper level meaning that for instance 2 families travelling together can enjoy a spacious communal living area while retaining some privacy and independence.
The ground floor apartment ‘Piero’ features 2 double bedrooms with access from both sides of the Villa. The open plan kitchen/dining features a table for 6 and a stone fireplace and steps out onto a paved patio with a traditional terracotta ‘loggia’ for dining al fresco with a serious view! The outdoor tables may be joined so groups of up to 14 guests can easily dine together.
The larger of the upper level apartments ‘Rafaiello’ hosts a very spacious kitchen/living area with a dining table able to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. There is a new and functional kitchen featuring also a microwave in addition to electric oven, gas hobs and a dishwasher. This apartment has a double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with a large single bed that can easily accommodate 2 young children. The sofa/divan in the lounge also transforms into an additional large single/small double bed. An optional interconnecting door leads to the smaller 1 bedroom apartment ‘Leonardo’ that looks over to the pool. The bedroom hosts a double bed along with 2 bunk beds. The kitchen is also equipped with an electric oven, gas hobs, microwave and dishwasher.
All the apartments have a TV…..no Satellite as yet. There is a washing machine for guests use on the ground floor.
The pool area features sun loungers and a gazebo. The higher altitude ensures that even during the hottest months there is a welcome gentle breeze.
Teresa is 82 and lives quietly in the fourth apartment on the ground floor. She may offer you some fresh eggs or invite you to sample one of her home baked cakes but she is never intrusive! She has the little fireplace in her kitchen lit even in the heat of the summer as she prefers to grill meats in the traditional Umbrian way. For guests that wish to enjoy some memorable BBQed spare ribs, pork steaks and sausages, Teresa is happy to prepare these for you at a minimum additional charge. Essentially she cooks and you do the rest, don’t forget to bring your mini dictionary as she does not speak any English!
Teresa’s son, daughter and daughter in law do not live on the property but attend to the preparation of the apartments, the maintenance of the pool and grounds.
