Massimo offers a variety of tours including visits to some of most charming and picturesque parts of Tuscany and Umbria. His proposed itineries can be modified to ensure your preferred cities and historical towns are incorporated.

Prices per person are more convenient for groups of 4 – 8 but still realistic for very small groups.


FLORENCE

Departure from the villa/hotel for Florence, the capital of art and the Renaissance. Visit to Piazzale Michelangelo, from where a wonderful view of the city can be admired. We will then reach the centre and visit the churches of Santo Spirito and Carmine, Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio and its gorgeous little shops and Piazza della Signoria. After lunch, the tour carries on in the Uffizi Gallery, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with Brunelleschi's dome, the Baptistry and Giotto's Belltower. The tour ends with a walk through the old centre with free time for shopping. Return to the hotel before dinner.

* For those who wish, it is also possible to leave Florence in the early afternoon and stop on the way back at the outlet The Mall, famous for its designer fashion stores.

ETRURIA - CORTONA and AREZZO

Departure after breakfast from your villa/hotel for Arezzo, one of the most important cities of Etruscan and medieval times. Visit to the beautiful Gothic cathedral with its unique decorated stained-glass windows, the church of St Francis with the famous frescoes of "The legend of the true cross" by Piero della Francesca and to the rich museum of gold, with the handcrafted production of the renowned goldsmiths of Arezzo. The tour will then move to the town of Cortona, where it will be possible to have lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant and taste homemade pasta or excellent local beef steak. The ancient history of this town is testified by the Etruscan walls which surround it, the narrow medieval streets with stunning views over the Valdichiana valley and lake Trasimeno, the Etruscan academy museum - among the most famous in the world - , and by the atmosphere and beauty of this timeless place which make it one of the pearls of Tuscany. The journey back will take you along the beautiful scenic roads going around lake Trasimeno, setting of the battles between Carthaginians and Romans, a route of historical and natural interest. Arrival at villa/hotel around dinner time.

CHIANTI CLASSICO

Departure from the villa for the beautiful castles of Meleto and Brolio in Gaiole in Chianti where beside visiting the castles it will also be possible to taste the Chianti Classico they produce. The tour then continues to the town of Radda in Chianti and the castle of Volpaia, where lunch will consist of the typical products of the area. In the afternoon, along scenic routes running through the vineyards, the tour moves on to the hamlet of Greve in Chianti where one can visit the typical square with the ancient salami shop "Falorni", famous for the locally produced Tuscan ham and salamis. Arrival at the villa/hotel before dinner.

PERUGIA & ASSISI

Departure after breakfast from your villa for a journey through art and spirituality. Arrival in Assisi, birth place of Saint Francis, and visit to the Basilica of San Francesco with its paintings by Giotto and Cimabue and the tomb of the saint. Walk through the typical medieval streets of the town and visit to the beautiful church of Santa Chiara and to the ancient town fortress. Here it will be possible to have lunch in one of the typical restaurants serving local dishes cooked with delicious D.O.P. Umbrian extra virgin olive oil. After lunch visit to the city of Perugia and of its streets overlooking the valley below and offering amazing views. Walking through the historical centre one can also admire monuments such as Palazzo dei Priori, the church of San Francesco and the Fontana Maggiore. For gourmands there are typical shops producing the famous perugina chocolate. Arrival at your lodgings before dinner.

PERUGIA & GUBBIO

Depart in the morning around 10:00 after breakfast from the Villa to go to visit Gubbio You will arrive in Gubbio to visit the wonderful middle age historical centre. You could see Piazza del Bargello (XIII century), the Cathedral and San Domenico church, breathing the middle age's time. You could have lunch in a Umbrian restaurant, having a characteristic meal. After lunch visit to the city of Perugia and of its streets overlooking the valley below and offering amazing views. Walking through the historical centre one can also admire monuments such as Palazzo dei Priori, the church of San Francesco and the Fontana Maggiore. For gourmands there are typical shops producing the famous perugina chocolate. Arrival at your lodgings before dinner.

VAL D'ORCIA (Montalcino, Montepulciano & Pienza)

Departure after breakfast from your villa/hotel for Montalcino. Visit to the abbey of Sant'Antimo, one of the most ancient abbeys in Italy, famous for its Gregorian chants, and whose atmosphere recalls "The name of the Rose". Arrival at the town centre of Montalcino, home-town of "Brunello", one of the most famous and important wines in the world; visit to the medieval fortress where it will be possible to have lunch in the typical restaurant with a stunning view over the Val d'Orcia, served with the delicious Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G.; alternatively lunch can be had at the Castello Banfi/Fattoria dei Barbi with tasting of their wines. The tour then carries on to the medieval hamlet of Bagno Vignoni with its ancient Roman baths, today still in use. Along a scenic route we will then drive to Pienza, the renaissance town where Pope Pius II was born. In the town you will visit the Pope's residence and also taste the famous sheep cheese produced in the area. The tour will then take to Montepulciano, home-town of Vino Nobile, where it will be possible to visit the Cantina del Redi, one of the oldest cellars in the world. The tour then continues through the medieval town with its attractive handicraft shops selling copper items and typical wine stores. Arrival at your lodgings before dinner time.
